Brighton Festival Fringe

Brighton Festival Fringe is one of the largest and fastest-growing open access arts fringe festivals in the world and the largest in England. It sets out to stimulate, educate and entertain a wide audience by providing a showcase for diverse art forms. No artistic judgment or selection criteria are imposed on participants, enabling the development of both new and established work to attract fresh audiences, press and promoters.

Glasgow Comedy Festival

Now in its eighth year, the Glasgow Comedy Festival is the UK's largest comedy festival, taking place over 18 days in March and attracts the best comedians from the UK and abroad - Frankie Boyle, Jimmy Car, Rhod Gilbert, Dave Gorman and Lee Mack are just some of the names signed up for this year. 2009 was the biggest festival yet, with 75,000 tickets sold for 347 shows in 51 venues across the city, and 2010 is going to be even better! Not only do they have the best of contemporary stand-up, they also have films, theatre, workshops and children’s shows.

Edinburgh International Festival

The Edinburgh International Festival has been connecting audiences and artists for over sixty years. Founded in 1947, the Festival grew out of the rubble of the Second World War with the aim of providing 'a platform for the flowering of the human spirit'. This belief in the power of the arts to nurture and transform lies at the heart of the Festival's mission today. The Festival inspired people to put on shows of their own right from the start, and these grew into the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Since then more festivals have grown up around it in August and early September, as well as at other times of year. There are now 12 major annual festivals in Edinburgh, the Festival City. The Edinburgh International Festival was the first of its kind. Today there are major festivals around the world modeled on the Edinburgh International Festival and the extraordinary experiences it creates for both audiences and artists.

Edinburgh International Film Festival

The Edinburgh International Film Festival is an annual fortnight of cinema screenings and related events taking place each June. Established in 1947, EIFF is the world's oldest continually running film festival. Over the years, Edinburgh has premiered films that have gone on to become hugely successful. This includes My Beautiful Laundrette, The Blair Witch Project, Pulp Fiction, L.A. Confidential and Amélie to name but a few. In 2009 premieres included Lars von Trier's Antichrist, Kathryn Bigelow's The Hurt Locker, Duncan Jones' Moon and Sam Mendes' Away We Go. The winners of the EIFF awards for 2009 were revealed at a ceremony at Edinburgh's Filmhouse and Patrons, Sir Sean Connery and Seamus McGarvey, were among those presenting awards. Moon scooped the Michael Powell Award for Best New British Feature Film, sponsored by the UK Film Council. The 2010 Festival runs from June 16th until June 27th and promises to be another exciting year.

Absolut Fringe Festival

The Dublin Fringe Festival, or Absolute Fringe, started in 1995 and it has quickly become one of the leading festivals in europe. As well as being Ireland's fastest growing festival to promote up and coming artists. The Fringe Festival lasts three week fringe festival which takes place each September throughout Dublin. The Fringe Festival offers live entertainment to shows such as Theatre, Comedy, Music, Dance as well as live art and visual art and further the Fringe is dedicated to new and emerging talent. THe Dublin Fringe Festival is one of the best Fringe Festivals to experience in the world.

Raindance Film Festival

Raindance is Europe’s largest independent film festival. Raindance Film Festival are proud to provide a platform for first-time filmmakers and promote all aspects of independent cinema in the UK, from guerrilla-style no-budget shorts to international indie blockbusters. Raindance premières have included Audition, Blair Witch Project, Ghost World, Gozu, Memento and Pulp Fiction. We satisfy the public’s thirst for bold, original filmmaking through diverse international programming. Raindance don’t just screen films though. Each year we hold Masterclasses, panel discussions, filmmaker Q&As and workshops. Terence Davies, Anthony Dod Mantle, Faye Dunaway, Ken Loach, Michael Madsen and Shane Meadows have all been involved in the last few years. These inspiring events are often followed by parties or gigs, a chance for you to meet fellow filmmakers from home and abroad. Billy Childish, Mick Jones and Wayne Kramer were among those providing the entertainment last year. 2010 sees us return to the Apollo West End in Piccadilly and the Raindance Film Cafe in Soho will once again be hosting high-profile gigs and post-screening parties. Edinburgh Comedy Festival

The Edinburgh Comedy Festival is part of the world's largest fringe festival, The Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The Edinburgh Comedy Festival on the Fringe, is a festival made up of Edinburgh's biggest venues, including: Assembly, Gilded Balloon, Pleasance and Underbelly. THe shows at these 4 venues comprises over 70% of the entire Edinburgh Fringe. Shows at the festival, include, comedy, theatre, dance, music and everything in between. The shows in the Comedy Festival programme represent over 90% of the comedy at the Fringe. Some of the comedians who have played at the festival include: Joan Rivers, Paul Merton, Clive James, Michael McIntyre, Kevin Bridges and Lucy Porter.

Greenwich Comedy Festival

Greenwich Comedy Festival is back at the spectacular Old Royal Naval College this September. From the 6th-12th September you can catch man-of-the-moment STEPHEN K AMOS, Irish funnyman ED BYRNE, the gloriously bawdy JENNY ECLAIR, Aussie megastar ADAM HILLS, the brilliantly unpredictable REGINALD D HUNTER, multimedia wunderkind ADAM BUXTON, ‘Nevermind the Buzzcocks’ luminary PHILL JUPITAS, psychopathic magician JERRY SADOWITZ, EUGENE MIRMAN star of ‘Flight of the Conchords’, the darkly comical RHONA CAMERON, punk-poet legend Mr JOHN COOPER CLARKE plus the legendary BILL BAILEY and US star TOM GREEN. This year’s festival isn’t just about the comedians though… Behold as the riverside lawns of the Old Royal Naval College are transformed into a comedy wonderland featuring two fantastic venues, plenty of bars, the delicious food quarter and lots more besides. An architect-designed Big Top will host the huge comedy extravaganzas with a world famous Spiegel Tent housing a series of solo shows. Nestled among these impressive structures sits the exquisite Fountain Bar, built around one of the building’s fountains this will be the ideal place to get into the comedy spirit. The festival site is totally FREE to get in to – with shows individually priced - so there’s no need to miss out on the dazzling light shows and enchanted gardens, tea parties and Silent Discos, schmaltzy Jazz and Swing.

Free Edinburgh Fringe Festival

The Free Edinburgh Fringe Festival operates a series venues at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. These venues are free for performers to use and for audiences to watch the shows. The aim of the organisation is to combat the high prices that Fringe performers often pay to perform at the Fringe, and also the high ticket prices charged for audiences to watch shows. The Free Festival promotes comedy, theatre, music, cabaret, opera, musicals, children’s shows, events and art displays – programmed by experienced producers in each area. Award winning performers and full runs of shows from the likes of Pappy’s Fun Club, John Gordillo, Lewis Schaffer, Nick Wilty, Sol Bernstein, Steve Day, Nik Coppin and Ivor Dembina have appeared in previous years, plus appearances from performers such as Alan Carr, Scott Capurro, Richard Herring, Brendan Burns, Marcus Brigstoke, Reg D. Hunter, Dan Antopolski and Paul Foot.
